What We Do

The Homeless Action Center provides free legal assistance with a range of public benefit programs, including:

• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
• Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)
• General Assistance (GA)
• CalFresh (food stamps)
• Medi-Cal (Medicaid)
• CalWORKs (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

We also provide information and referrals for non-benefits related legal issues.

Who We Serve

Low-income residents of Alameda County are eligible for HAC services.

If needed, HAC has language interpreters on call. Staff are trained on issues of race, class, gender, body size, sexual orientation, and gender identity. HAC has a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of discrimination or bias.
