Head shot of Tiana Jackson

Have you ever experienced an angel on earth? A selfless individual, with the biggest smile? Dedicated to change in the community – dedicated to evolving within oneself?

Tiana Jackson was the heart and soul of HAC’s Almost Home safe haven project, in her capacity as Program Manager at our transitional housing facility in Berkeley. Tragically, she passed away on July 11 at the age of 50.

Tiana was truly an angel on earth. Her spirit and love will always continue to flourish in Almost Home. Tiana showed up to work daily with love, patience, and forgiveness. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others. It keeps no record of wrongs. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Tiana demonstrated these acts of love every day among her coworkers and clients. Her presence is missed daily.

Tiana’s community services ranged from toddlers to senior adults. She impacted each walk of life with her laugh, her flashy car is known as “Big Mama”, her relatability to all. Tiana’s enthusiasm to show up for herself and all around her was irresistible. I admired the relationships she built and the impact she made on each HAC coworker. Tiana inspired all. We lost a real one. Legends never die!

Tiana’s spirit and commitment to inspire the community continues to live on through the work we do every day, with love.
